Silence was a comforting thing for you. In most cases you would much rather spend your time in a noiseless room reading a book or thinking to yourself than stick around somewhere surrounded by constant chatter. Nighttime was perfect for these times too, as you could have either one.

You let out an quiet sigh, moving your fingers up to grasp the corner of the book in your hands and turn over the page. The chapter ended shortly, on a cliffhanger at that. You frowned at the annoying sentence that compelled you to read on.

I told myself this would be the last chapter... Your thoughts reminded you. It was so tempting though...

Your head shot up at the sound of your front door being opened without a single knock at the door first. Forgetting about the book instantly, you pushed yourself up on the couch into a seating position in order to get a view of the door.

Someone was there, though the shadows in the room prevented you from knowing who. It sounded as though they were taking their shoes off, and seemed to be having difficulties with it at that.

You stayed in your stance as you watched their back, your heart rate picking up. Who the hell just broke into your house? Was it even someone you knew?

The figure seemed to have finally been able to pull their shoes off successfully, and had stood up now, turning in the direction you were facing and stopping in their tracks.

"_____? What're you doing here?" They asked you, a slight slur in their voice. You breathed a sigh of relief when you recognized them.

"I think that's something I should be asking you Kiku. This is my house after all, and I don't recall inviting you." You responded to your friend. He stood his ground a moment longer with a very confused expression on his face. A second later it seemed something clicked in his mind.

"Ah, wrong house..." He mumbled, spinning around and grabbing his shoes again.

You quickly stood up and walked over to him, flicking the lights switch on on your way. "Wait a minute Kiku." you called, grabbing his shoulders and turning him so that he faced towards you again. His eyes blinked rapidly for a moment as your stared at his face, inspecting every inch. In the light you could see him much better. His cheeks were tinted red and his eyes seemed unfocused, not to mention the suspicious tie wrapped around his head.

"You're drunk, aren't you?" You stated bluntly. He laughed, a goofy grin forming on his face.

"Naw, Im just a little woozy that's all." He assured, waving his hand in denial. "I'm not drunk, not even close."

You lifted an eyebrow. "Yeah...sure...what's with the tie on your head? I thought that was just some stupid thing you only see in anime."

Kiku's gave you a confused look before processing what you said and laughing again, reaching a hand up to his hand to grasp the tie around it. "Ah this thing. See, it was getting stuffy earlier and I thought I'd just loosen up a bit, but I couldn't get my tie off so I just left it. Clean forgot about it up there! Pretty stupid of me to wear one in the first place though wasn't it?"

You chuckled. "Yeah, it was."

You loosened the tie off his head and let it fall to the floor, earning a very drawn out thank you from Kiku spoken in his native language.

"So why are you here and not at your house?" You questioned him. He had to think for a second before responding.

"I dunno. I gave the wrong directions to the driver man I suppose." Kiku guessed with a slight shrug of the shoulders. "Hmmmm, I'm cold..."

You bit your lip in thought, then gently took his wrist and lead him towards the couch, trying your best not to make him stumble. He stared at the couch, then carefully laid down on it with the help of a light push from you.

"You're going to have to sleep here tonight, it's probably not the best idea to go out again with the time that it is." You spoke to him softly, draping a nearby blanket over him.

"Ok~ay." He sang, a smile still planted on his features. You chuckled again and left to go to your room, hearing him begin to hum a song from one of those old Pokemon games. Letting out a sigh, you changed into more comfortable clothes and slipped into bed, turning the light off before settling in the blankets. You could still hear Kikus faint humming from the living room, though it wasn't too loud to really bother you much. It was a rare sight to see Kiku drunk. He wasn't much for drinking with others, not usually anyways. It seemed he had had quite a few drinks this time around too, though somehow you could tell he wasn't full out drunk.

You curled up into your blankets as thoughts of your friend continued to fill your head. He was just too much of an interesting person not to think about.

The hums from the other room died down, making you wonder if maybe he had fallen asleep already. You heard a small thump, then quiet footsteps walking toward the direction of your room a second later. The door to your room creaked open, and Kiku poked his head through the crack.

"_____?" Kiku spoke into the room, seeming to be trying his best to stay at a quiet volume. You didn't respond, your back faced towards him, hoping maybe he would go back to bed if it seemed like you were asleep. There was no movement for a long while. Kiku then slowly opened the door wide enough to let himself in and walked towards the bed you laid in. You continued to stay still and silent, curious as to what he would actually do. The bed sank lower slightly as Kiku randomly laid down in the spot beside you, curling up slightly with his knees lightly pressed against yours in the twin sized bed. You felt the warm breath that he sighed out on near your neck as he settled in behind you, going still again.

"Kiku?" You whispered.

"Hmm?"

You adjusted yourself so that you were on your back and turned your head to face him, his brown eyes open and focused on you.

"What are you doing here?" You asked him. "You were supposed to sleep on the couch."

He gave a small pout, earning a stifled laugh from you. "It's lonely sleeping there all by myself. I've never been in your house at night before."

"So you're saying you're just lonely?"

Kiku nodded the best he could with his head flopped onto the pillow. You smiled at him and moved closer to him, wrapping your arms around him the best you could.

"You're acting like a child you know..." You teased, hugging him closer. He stayed silent, and you looked at him in the eyes again, seeing him looking at you with what appeared to be awe.

"What is it?" You asked him with a slight frown.

"You're so warm..."

"What-" you stopped as he embraced you in him arms and held you against him at an strangely close proximity for him. Blinking in confusion, you pushed against him so that you had at least some room and turned back onto your back. He still held onto you, a content smile gracing his lips as he hugged you. This was probably the closest you'd ever been near him and probably ever would.

For a split second, you suddenly had a strong desire to kiss him, right on the lips. Of course, it was gone after that split second, causing you to chuckle at the ridiculously random thought.

"What're you laughing about?" You heard Kiku ask, turning slightly to look him in the eyes again. A sudden warmth rose to your cheeks.

"What? Oh just...n-nothing really..." You stammered, glancing off to the side. Even if he was drunk, you really didn't want to tell him what you had just thought of doing. Kissing your friend? That would be ridiculous! Not to mention if would probably be considered taking slight advantage of him considering the state he was in.

He laughed at a low volume. "Your face got all red; you're lying to me aren't you~?"

You frowned. "So what if I am? It just means it's none of your business, so you should go to sleep." You turned your head away from him slightly.

He gave out a low hum and snuggled into you more, closing his eyes. You stared up at the ceiling, unable to sleep now. The silence returned to your room, with only the faint sounds of nighttime outside the windows.

"You're really warm you know..." A whisper from Kiku sounded next to you.

"So are you." You stated at a similar volume.

"Yeah but you're warmer. And your skin is really soft too." He commented. He was probably referring to your bare arms in which his hands were draped over in a relaxed way,

"...Thank you..."

"And you have a really nice body. And you're really cute, and beautiful. You're both. You're cute and beautiful at the same time." He continued in a happy voice.

You chuckled. "I'm flattered, but why are you telling me this?"

"Because...you should know...that..."

His sentence faded, replaced by silence again. You looked to see that his eyes had closed and his hold on you had loosened ever so slightly. You smiled.

"Don't fall asleep in the middle of your sentence, silly." You whispered, stroking his hair gently. You kissed him on the forehead and settled into his arms, closing your eyes and letting his soft breathing lure you into sleep. As you drifted off, you heard him whisper something into your ear.

"I love you."
Just a short little story I wrote to try and help me fall asleep ^^ It did just the trick too, how wonderful :iconwarmandcomfyplz:

I've never written a story with a drunk person in it or even seen a drunk person in real life really, so I really didn't have much of an idea on what I was doing. I don't know what kind of drunk Kiku would be so I just went with it, and he ended up being the kind you have to look after XD I really didn't put much effort into this though, so it's probably not that good anyways :icondontunderstandplz: I really like stories where Kiku is drunk though, they amuse me~ goddamn I want to see him drunk in the actual series. Once I see that my life will be complete...the closest I've gotten was just an official picture where he certainly did look drunk...

Anyways, I should stop rambling now and get to bed XD so I hope you liked the story, and any feedback is most definitely appreciated~! :iconjapanshipsitplz:

EDIT:
Goddamnit I had to change the title because someone made a story almost exactly like this with the exact same title and I can't stand it when that happens :icononionsighplz:
The title was pretty dumb anyways though, but I was having hard time coming up with one in the first place...dammit...maybe I'll think of a better one someday...for now I'll just leave it with no title
